Surgical Oncology

Our surgeons have been longstanding leaders of surgical cancer treatment, remaining at the forefront of innovative technology to provide the most advanced surgical cancer treatments available. As procedures have become less invasive and more technically demanding, we have specialized our practice to include "leading edge" technology that will produce better outcomes and easier recoveries.

Our affiliation with Rex Healthcare allows us to treat our patients daily in the most technologically advanced operating suites on the east coast. Additional collaboration with the Rex Cancer Center provides superior multidisciplinary care, allowing a team of the area's finest physicians to tailor treatments to each individual.

Dr. Podnos is the medical director of Surgical Oncology at Rex Cancer Center and is the only fellowship trained surgical oncologist in Wake County specializing in cutaneous, gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatic oncology.

Additionally, our surgeons often perform surgical biopsies for the diagnosis of lymphoma and other cancers, perform sentinal lymph node biospy, and offer expertise in placement of ports used for chemotherapy.
