Dr. Yale D. Podnos received his undergraduate degree from New York University. After receiving his masters of public health from Harvard University, he completed medical school and his general surgery training at the University of California, Irvine. He went on to complete a surgical oncology fellowship at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California, making him the only fellowship trained surgical oncologist in Wake County specializing in cutaneous, gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatic oncology.
Dr. Podnos is a Diplomate with the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, and he is an assistant clinical professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Podnos specializes in surgical oncology focused on liver, cutaneous, colon and solid organ tumors. He is the director of Surgical Oncology at Rex Cancer Center.
